How long now?
Countimus counts the days until what you are waiting for. And the days since, because an anniversary is both: since the day, and until the next one. The number sits on your home screen and your lock screen, without opening the app.
For iPhone and iPad · iOS and iPadOS 17 or newer
No server. Everything stays in your iCloud.
No account. No sign-up, no ads.
Both directions. Until the day, and since the day.
Both directions
Forwards and backwards
A countdown that has passed does not disappear. It keeps counting: 1,234 days since. The day you stopped smoking is as much a countdown as the holiday in July.
Anything that recurs moves on to the next time the day after - and counts along: Emma's 12th birthday. For the anniversary of a death, "the 12th time" would be wrong, so you pick the occasion: birthday, anniversary, wedding anniversary, day of remembrance, work anniversary.
Repeats come yearly, monthly, weekly (every other week, too), daily, or on the second Tuesday of the month. Whatever the date already says, Countimus does not ask again.
Before or after today, both count. Nothing is stored.
From the app
From the first launch to a shared countdown.
Real screens, not mock-ups: creating, viewing, organizing, and what shows up outside the app.
-
First launch Four ways into your first countdown. A birthday brings its repetition and occasion along.
-
One question at a time Six questions to your first countdown. The number it will show is already at the top.
-
The card Everything in one place, changed right where it sits. A birthday counts the age.
-
Your unit Seven units, combined freely. Here weeks and days.
-
With a time With a time, the card ticks down to the second.
-
Milestones A notification at round numbers, you choose which. At the top: when the next one comes.
-
Collections A name and a color. In the list, each collection becomes a group you can fold away.
-
Backwards What is over keeps counting: smoke-free for 3 years, 5 months, 13 days.
-
On the home screen Small shows one countdown, medium three. The concert runs as a clock.
-
In time Ten days ahead, Emma’s birthday checks in.
-
The final hours With a time, a countdown runs on the lock screen for its last eight hours.
-
Shared A countdown goes out as a link. Whoever gets it sees the card first, then decides.
Counting
In your unit
Seven units, freely combined: years, months, weeks, days, hours, minutes, seconds. If you only want days, you get days. If you need it sharper, add months and days.
Or leave it to the app: automatic gets coarser the further away the countdown is, and finer as it approaches.
With or without a time
Without a time, Countimus counts whole days - and on the day itself it says today, all day long. With a time, it ticks down to the second.
A mark for it
An emoji or a photo. The photo carries the card as its background; without a mark, the space simply stays empty.
How much is already behind you
For a pregnancy or a renovation, 42 % done tells you more than 154 days left. The bar says which day it counts from; anything that repeats counts from the last time.
Three display sizes
The list comes large, medium or small. Mark, number and type shrink - the row stays tall enough to hit.
Without opening the app
On the home screen and the lock screen
Three widget sizes for the home screen and three shapes for the lock screen. You choose which countdown each one shows, or leave it on the next one, and the widget moves along with you.
The small widget shows one countdown, as large as it will go, the medium one three, the large one up to six. Where time runs short, a clock runs.
With a time set, a countdown can run on the lock screen and in the Dynamic Island for its last eight hours. For the concert tonight or the flight in the morning.
Order
Collections, once there are more
A collection is a name and a color. Seven come ready as suggestions and appear with one tap: birthdays, holidays, vacation, school breaks, memorials, leisure, anniversaries. Add your own, as many as you like.
In the list, each collection becomes a group you can fold away. The color shows as a narrow bar on every row, even when you sort by time. A filter hides whole collections.
Milestones
A notification on round numbers: 100 days to go, 10 days to go, and on the day itself. You choose which ones per countdown, and you can add reminders with your own text.
Birthdays from your contacts
Name, date and picture in one go. The list only shows contacts who actually have a birthday on file. If the year is missing, Countimus does not count a wrong age.
Archive instead of delete
A countdown that is over is a memory. It moves to a section of its own rather than disappearing.
Into the calendar
A countdown can become an appointment, through the system sheet, which needs no permission for it.
From outside
By voice, from other apps, and as a link
Add something to Countimus is enough. Birthdays have their own command, which sets the yearly repeat for you. Both appear in Shortcuts, in Spotlight and with Siri, without setting anything up.
So an automation can turn a calendar entry into a countdown. Send the same appointment twice and Countimus updates the one it already has, rather than adding a second.
A countdown goes out as a link. Anyone with Countimus sees it as a card and adds it with one tap. Anyone without it gets a page that shows it. What the link carries never reaches a server.
Privacy
What Countimus does not do
What someone is waiting for says a great deal about them. Everything else follows from that.
No networking layer
No server, no statistics, no crash reporting. There is no place in Countimus that sends anything anywhere.
No third-party packages
Everything comes from Apple or from this project.
Your iCloud, nothing else
Your countdowns sync between your own devices through your private iCloud. There is no account with us.
Contacts only on request
Countimus reads four fields while the birthday list is open: first name, last name, birthday, picture. Only the one contact you pick is ever stored.
In full and verifiable: Privacy for Countimus (German).
What it costs
Four free, then once
Four countdowns are free, with everything: widgets, lock screen, collections, reminders, Siri, iCloud. None of it is a premium feature.
Beyond four, a single purchase unlocks the app. No subscription, nothing to cancel. With Family Sharing, up to six people use it, and everyone keeps their own countdowns. Whatever you have created stays visible either way.
Status
On the App Store
